Hatzic Watershed Restoration Society wants to help you identify, remove, and dispose of Flowering Rush to reduce levels at Hatzic Lake and prevent its spread.
Our society has been in contact with the Invasive Plant Specialist at the B.C. Ministry of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations to get guidance for the removal of Flowering Rush at Hatzic Lake and tributaries. Below are the treatment guidelines provided. We are hoping everyone will join in at their properties and lake common areas to help remove flowering rush as per these guidelines. A lake-wide permit has been approved under the Water Sustainability Act to undertake this work (Fall 2021 to end of Winter 2022), let's try to get the community working together with a common goal in mind!
